MASLEA

MASELA is a nonprofit professional association for physicians and physicians-in-training residing in &/or practicing in Southeast Louisiana. It was formed by jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish Medical Society in late 2020 as they recognized that public health issues and medical practice challenges don't stop at the parish line. MASELA acts as an umbrella organization and is responsible for the programming and collaborative initiatives throughout the area. Other medical societies are invited to join MASELA.

MASELA's mission is to unify and empower physicians in Southeast Louisiana to enhance medical care and the quality of life in our community. Simply stated, MASELA is the voice of physicians and patients in the region. With the challenges of practicing medicine today, all physicians - regardless of their mode of practice - need an advocate and a cheerleader.

Yes! A physician or physician-in-training is encouraged to join an affiliated medical association (PMS & OPMS) and MASELA. Membership is for academic, private practice, employed, early career, primary care or specialty care - all MDs and DOs. Dues for physicians cover both the parish society and MASELA so you get the value of belonging to two memberships for the cost of one. Physicians wishing to join only MASELA may also do so. Dues for active practicing physicians are $250 annually. Membership is complimentary for medical students and residents. For dues information and to join, go to masela.org join.

MASELA is focused on physician well-being and improving the environment of medicine throughout Southeast Louisiana. We collaborate with the parish societies to ensure that physicians' voices are heard in the development of policy at the state level.
