Membership Types

An Active Member shall be an M.D. or D.O. who is practicing full-time and/or in an administrative capacity and who is living in, practicing in, or licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana.

An Associate Member is an M.D. or D.O. practicing less than 1,000 hours per year or serving as a commissioned medical officer in Louisiana who chooses not to hold active status.

An Early Career Member shall be a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy who has completed residency or fellowship training and is within the first five (5) years of practice. Upon completion of five (5) years after residency or fellowship, Early Career Members shall automatically transition to Active Membership with payment of dues as established for that category.

A Medical Student Member shall be a student of medicine located in Louisiana enrolled in an accredited medical school.
A Resident/Fellow Member shall be an M.D. or D.O. in a residency or fellowship position in Louisiana.

An Emeritus Member shall be an M.D. or D.O. retired from practice and no longer using his/her knowledge of medicine to earn an income and who wishes to be more involved in the organization to receive communications and be invited to attend organization events.
